My Approach
My clients rarely come to me looking for a legal battle or years of legal bills. So my advice is honest, practical and results driven. I focus on finding settlement options on which you and your partner can agree, based on good financial information and expert knowledge of the law.
I often take on a file part-way through a court action that has either stalled or is headed for a trial that no one wants. I have quickly found a workable solution, avoiding trial and substantial cost to my client.
My goal is to help clients see solutions, not create complexity and billable hours. The old antagonistic approach to the law doesn’t work with today’s Family Law Act, and I strive to educate myself in new approaches, update myself in emerging and changing areas of the law, and adopt practices within my office to gain cost efficiencies I can pass on to my clients.
I was born and raised in Vancouver. I moved to Kootenay Lake in 2012 to join my husband in his hometown and start my legal career.
I was called to the bar in 2013. Prior to starting my own firm in January 2021, I enjoyed a comprehensive general law practice, which included appearing frequently in the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia as well as the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
I am a mother of two young boys. I enjoy the time spent at my home in Balfour, whether playing in the sandbox, baking, sewing, or just getting through the myriad of chores that are a part of life on an off-grid homestead.
